Wedding Table Seating Generator

Paste your guest list, set the seats per table, add who must sit together or apart, and print a table plan to start from.

In a grid, “apart” means not in touching seats (beside, in front, behind or diagonal) and “together” means touching. At tables, apart means different tables and together means the same table.

A starting plan for your reception tables

Seating is one of the most argued-over jobs in wedding planning, and a good first draft saves hours. Paste the guest list, set how many seats each table has (round tables commonly hold eight or ten), and the generator deals the guests into tables of nearly equal size. A guest list of 96 at tables of 8 makes 12 tables; 100 guests at 10 per table makes 10 tables; 97 guests at 8 per table makes 13 tables, with a few holding 7.

Couples, families and feuds

Add each couple or family pair to Keep together, one pair per line, and each pair of guests who should not share a table to Keep apart. The generator treats a broken rule as far worse than anything else and searches for a plan that meets all of them. For a family of four, add three pairs (for example parents with each child) so everyone is linked. The page lists any rule it could not meet, and you can remove it or add a table and try again.

Treat it as a draft

A shuffle cannot know who is friends with whom, who needs to be near the door, or which table is nearest the speakers. Use the plan to get the structure, then move a few guests by hand. Copy plan gives text you can paste into a document, Export CSV gives one row per guest for place cards, and Print gives a one-page plan.

Does the head table matter?

The head table, if you have one, is usually fixed in advance. Leave those names out of the list and seat them yourself, then plan the other tables here.

Privacy

Guest names stay in your browser; nothing is uploaded. A share link includes the names, so send it only to your planner or partner.
